The First Town, Solasidor
F-Rank promotion!
Karina here! I'm at the guild right now delivering those Slime Cores that I got with Senpai.
Since I used magic to extract them, the cores I got were pristine. I'm looking forward to the assessment!
Thanks to the high value of the undamaged Slime Cores, my share amounted to eight large copper coins.
I decided to pay the adventurer's guild registration fee with that.
"Blade, you didn't give your cores to Karina-san, did you?"
"Nope. She was amazing. I didn't know mages were so awesome, she was like, 'whoosh'!"
"I see. There's no problem then."
Blade testified that I was able to gather those undamaged Slime Cores on my own.
Thanks, Senpai. Your vocabulary may be limited, though…
"Here is your Adventurers' Guild Card, Karina-san. You are now F-Rank."
I finally got my Adventurers' Guild Card!
F-ranks were still basically apprentices, but it's still proper identification!
Now I won't have to use the Goddess's hypnotizing fake ID anymore!
"I'm off to go pay Anego, cya."
"Thanks for the help, sir! See you around, sir!"
"Dahaha, maybe the drinks will be on you next time."
I bowed my head to the oh-so-cool Blade-senpai as he left.
Maaan, I really was indebted to him. He even taught me the Woodworking skill.
And most importantly, he helped me meet Harumikazuchi-oneesama.
I'm definitely going to see her with my own money next time! And if I'm lucky, maybe even spend the night with her!
"Blade-san is a good person when he's not drunk…"
"He's still a good person even when he's drunk though?"
"I heard he took you to Shun Lai Pavilion, are you okay?"
I mean, I lost my virginity, so I can't say I'm still intact, but like…
But looking at it another way, I've got nothing to lose now…!
"To put it mildly, I had an amazing encounter."
"… Karina-san, do you perhaps go for women too?"
"Honestly, I only go for women (since I'm a man on the inside)."
"I-is that so?"
Receptionist-san looked a little taken aback.
Don't worry about it, I won't do anything without consent!
"Oh, by the way, could I take on a quest right away?"
"Yes, would you like to hunt more Slimes?"
"I was thinking about cutting down some trees actually, do you have any quests like that?"
"… That's a very laborious job, you know? There's also the danger of being attacked by monsters. We can't send a guild member with you either, so I can't recommend it…"
[Quest] Log Collection. Reward: 1 silver coin per log.
This quest was typically handled by a team, or a guild staff member that accompanied the adventurers with a magic bag (an expensive one that could hold logs).
You'd need to cut down trees while keeping an eye on your surroundings and defeat any monsters that appeared. On top of that, if any blood was spilled, other monsters would be attracted by the smell, increasing the danger level…
The reward was split among the team, so the amount each person got was low.
Honestly, it was a quest that only professional teams referred to as [Lumberjacks] would handle.
"Given that, I can't recommend this at all."
"I can use magic, so I'll be fine. If I get attacked, I'll bring back part of the monster's body as proof of subjugation."
"Hmm, magic, huh… Well, just know that I did try to stop you. It's your responsibility from here, okay?"
Receptionist-san was really trying to make sure I knew what I was getting into. It was a tough job for a rookie to handle solo.
Which is exactly why it was so lucrative to do solo.
Twenty-five logs would be enough for the Merchants' Guild registration fee.
… Well, if I thought about it from a normal person's point of view, delivering Slime Cores would be easier. No doubt about it. It'd be easier to carry too.
But unlike Slime Cores, logs were always in demand and wouldn't lose value. Apparently, there was a limit to how many undamaged Slime Cores could be bought in a day. They couldn't process them all.
I wouldn't even think about doing it if I didn't have Spatial Magic.
"I'll register you for the quest, but please come back right away if you don't think you can handle it."
"Okay, thank you."
And so I'd succeeded in accepting the quest to collect logs.
