Hidden Village and Dragon

Oh My?

"Miko-hime-sama, we have prepared breakfast for you and your attendants."

Spread across the table in our tatami room: grilled fish, rice, and miso soup. There was even a spinach side dish. A perfectly standard one-soup, two-sides meal, a traditional Japanese breakfast.

"… Wait, this is Japanese food! They actually have Japanese cuisine here!!"

"Onee-san, what's Japanese food?"

"Ah… it's the traditional food from where I'm from? Looks pretty much just like this."

Well, in a world where reincarnators and other transported people are probably pretty common, Japanese food showing up isn't all that surprising… Hmm, but this is bad. I already had a full breakfast, so I can't eat any more…

Oh wait, I can just toss it in my time-stopped Storage. I'll eat it later. And in it goes.

By the way, they'd set out both chopsticks and wooden spoons. Nice touch, being considerate of people who can't use chopsticks. That's real hospitality!

"… Nya, smells weird nya."

"That's miso soup. Not a fan? If you mix it with the rice, it becomes a dish called neko-manma."

"You can mix them!? Let's see… Oh! This is pretty good nya!"

Misha dumped the miso soup over her rice without a moment's hesitation and dug in with a wooden spoon. She also grabbed the grilled fish by the tail and crunched it down headfirst, bones and all. You're going to get a bone stuck, you know?

"I'll eat them separately. So this is the staple and this is the side dish, with this as the soup, right?"

Dea-kun picked up the chopsticks and ate with practiced ease.

"I'll dig in too~. Grilled fish~, grilled fish~"

Arthur scarfed down the grilled fish like he was swallowing it whole. You gonna eat the rice and miso soup? Oh, you are. Just like a normal person, huh.

"Phew, stuffed nya."

"Thank you for the meal."

"Ahh, that was decent… yaaawn…"

Arthur let out a yawn.

"Getting kinda… sleepy…"

"Hey, hey, did you stay up late last night or something?"

Arthur rubbed at his eyes, like a cat washing its face.

"Ahh, eating two meals' worth does make you sleepy ny… Zzz…"

"I'm getting sleepy too, now that my stomach's full… mmm…"

Oh my? Misha and Dea-kun slumped over too.

"Hey?"

Poke, poke. I prodded Dea-kun's cheek. Gave Misha's rump a light smack. Plucked one of Arthur's scales. Nothing. Not one of them so much as twitched. Even for deep sleepers, this was too much.

This is clearly unnatural.

Ah! Could this be THAT!? Sleeping drugs in the food so they can offer us up as sacrifices, that whole cliche!

"… Alright!"

Gotta ride this big wave.

I quietly lay down too. If playing possum means they'll carry me straight to the dragon, that's a free ride right there.

Oh, I'll definitely get my revenge later, don't worry. I'll sic the dragon on them, make them hand over their socks, and have them cook me Japanese food without the sleeping drugs.

Just don't touch me anywhere weird, okay? If it's a girl, though, I'll allow it.
