The Saintess
Making Magic Tools (Giving Up)
So I learned how to make magic tools, but I still have no idea what's going on.
I couldn't understand what Kantra was saying at all…
"I see~, so if you do this here…"
"Ooh! You've got talent! That's right, run it along like that."
"Hmm, I want fire attribute here~"
"In that case, you layer it like this… then like this, and… there."
"I see~!"
Meanwhile, Nerune understood everything perfectly. What is with this girl? I sure do have a lot of excellent subordinates. It's so easy when I can just leave everything to them.
"Sensei~! Is this how it feels here~!"
"Wonderful, assistant! That's right, magic formations are free-form. Do whatever you want!"
Before I knew it, Kantra had become "sensei" and Nerune had become his assistant.
Also, do whatever you want? Really?
"Then, then~! What about carving it onto a body~! Wouldn't that be cool~?!"
"Ooh! That sounds painful! Also, you're a girl, stop that!"
What are you planning to do by carving a water-shooting magic formation onto a body… Well, it might be useful on a golem's body or something… Yeah, maybe I could even turn a magic tool into a golem. I'm worried about whether it would interfere with the golem's magic formation, but if anything goes, it should work.
"An amplification magic formation seems like it could be effective though~… Why not give it a try~?"
"Hmm, but I've never carved a magic formation onto a human body before. Assistant! Carve into me a little! The chest would be good since it won't get in the way of smithing. Just gouge out the flesh with a knife, like…"
"Okay~! Like this~!"
"Guahhhhh?! Owwww!! But do it all at once!!"
Hey, what are you two actually doing? From where I'm standing, it just looks like someone stabbing someone else in the chest with a knife… well, she actually is stabbing him…
"Ah! I got carried away~. Sorry, Master."
"No, it's fine… Yeah, if you're into it, please do learn to make magic tools."
"Leave it to me~!"
Nerune smiled with a bloodied knife in her hand. Oh dear… this girl is the mad scientist type, isn't she…?
"H-hey, finish the job. Pain is bad, but leaving it half-done is worse."
"Ah, okaaay, Sensei~"
Turning around, Nerune stuck the knife back into Kantra. Yeah, that's definitely stabbing.
Well, she seems to be having fun, so I'll head back. I'll have her make me magic tools later. Anyway, it looks like Nerune has talent for magic tool crafting. Her race of "Apprentice Witch" isn't just for show, I guess.
Come to think of it, before I can learn the magic formations and characters used in making magic tools, I need to actually learn this world's standard writing system first. What a pain. Pass. Let's just leave it to Nerune.

Since the saintess got chomped twice between yesterday and today, I had Rokuko spin the 1000 DP gacha.
The results:
"Oh, a Dummy Core! I know because I'm well-versed in Dungeon Cores!"
"Isn't that Dummy Core purple? It looks toxic. Why's the color different?"
"Who knows? Maybe it's feeling unwell?"
"… I thought you said you were well-versed in Dungeon Cores? Also, they turn purple when they feel sick?"
A purple-glowing Dummy Core, and…
"This one is… I'm not sure, but it's a skill scroll… A [Chef] scroll? I've never heard of that skill."
"… That sounds like a skill perfect for Kinue-san."
A mysterious skill scroll.
Either way, both seem worth more than 1000 DP. The Dummy Core costs around 5000 DP… though it's purple for some reason… and that skill isn't even in the catalog. What's with her luck? If she had a status screen, her luck would definitely be through the roof.
Well, considering her life until I showed up, she probably needed that luck just to stay alive…
"Let's give this skill to Kinue-san for now. As for this Dummy Core… I guess we'll keep it as a spare? Once the new puzzle area we're currently digging out is complete, we can set it up as a new Core Room. For now, let's just store it in the Master Room's warehouse."
I have a bad feeling about it, but now's not the time to worry about that.
I feel like we probably shouldn't use this Dummy Core if we can help it.
Alright, let's just ignore it. Pretend we never saw it.
Just as I decided that, Rokuko poked my side.
That tickles. What are you doing?
"Hey, Kehma. What are you going to do about Rin? Aren't you going to put it under the dungeon's control?"
"Hm? Put it under our control? What do you mean?"
"You know, right now you're just asking it to do things. I'm talking about making it the same as monsters summoned with DP, so you can give it orders and deploy it."
"Ah… I didn't know we could do that. You should have told me sooner."
Rokuko explained it to me proudly.
To put a monster under our control, we need its consent. Also, the monster needs to fully understand what being under the dungeon's control means… So we can't trick them.
There's also a way to forcibly put something under our control. You just need to make them submit. This method is mostly used for monsters without intelligence.
However, monsters under our control stop generating DP… How does that even work?
"That's what Haku-neesama taught me."
"Heh, figured as much."
… Losing 950 DP a day would hurt. Things are going well as is. Thanks to the current arrangement, our DP keeps steadily accumulating. Combined with the Saintess Fever, we've got a Rin Fever going on.
Well, there's a limit to becoming underlings anyway, and making that thing submit would be pretty difficult.
Maybe it's fine to just leave things as they are… I doubt it'll work, but should I try talking to Rin about it?
