How to Use DP and Create Golem
"And so, I've decided to learn [Create Golem]."
What I had my eye on was the [Create Golem] spell.
Magic that creates golems… yeah, that's great. If I have golems do the work, I can take it easy, right?
"Ehhh, isn't that just magic that makes golems? It'd be better to use DP to summon a golem monster. You can summon one for 100 DP each, and they're reasonably strong."
"In other words, if I use [Create Golem] to make a hundred of them, I'll have broken even… Everything from the hundred and first onward is basically free."
"That's amazing!"
Well, I have no idea if I could actually summon that many, or if I could even summon them without material costs, or how well the golems I create would perform. So I really don't know if a hundred would actually break even.
To be honest, part of it is that I just want to try making one myself… but I'll keep that to myself.
"So without further ado, let me order the [Create Golem] scroll… Oh, there it is."
When I selected the [Create Golem] scroll in exchange for 10000 DP, a parchment scroll bound with string appeared.
My remaining DP suddenly dropped to less than a third of what it was, but let's not worry about that…
I'll try using it right away. I unfastened the string and looked inside.
[Create Golem] was written on the right edge, followed by some kind of magic formation.
"… How am I supposed to use this thing?"
"You just channel magic power into the magic formation."
Following Rokuko's instructions, I tried pouring magic power into it. The sensation was similar to the life magic [Purify].
When I placed my hand on the magic formation and strained, the magic power inside my body seeped out through my hand. It felt like my strength was draining a little.
The magic power flowing from my hand settled onto the magic formation and began flowing along its lines in a rotating pattern.
I see… so this is what channeling magic power feels like.
So, how long do I keep doing this? For now, I just kept pouring more magic power in. The flow of magic power through the formation accelerated faster and faster.
It must have reached a critical point, because the formation's resistance suddenly vanished, and the magic power burst apart with a bang before raining down on me.
As the rain of magic power showered my body, I felt the structure of the magic formation embedding itself within me.
No, it really did embed itself. Probably. I felt like I could now use [Create Golem].
As for the scroll… the lines of the magic formation burned into it, caught fire, and disappeared in flames.
"… Huh, that's the first time I've seen that. So that's what happens when you use a magic scroll."
"Eh? Rokuko, you've never used a scroll before?"
"Of course not, they're too expensive."
"Then how did you know how to use one…?"
"Hmph, because it's common sense… Though Ane-sama Number 89 did teach me."
Time to try out [Create Golem] right away.
The required materials were something to make the golem's body from and magic power. I knew that instinctively. This must be the scroll's effect.
Use stone as the material for a stone golem, clay for a clay golem. The magic power required varies depending on what you're making.
I stood up, thinking I'd go out from the master room and dig up some clay… when I noticed Niku sitting in the corner of the room with her knees drawn up, looking lost. When did she wake up?
Yeah, I don't need to go myself. Let's use what's available.
"… Alright, Niku, go dig up some clay from outside the cave. About this much is fine."
"Y-yes. Goshujin-sama."
I ordered Niku to bring back about a soccer ball's worth.
She tried to head outside empty-handed, so I gave her a shovel (5 DP). When I handed it to Niku, her face looked slightly surprised… or so I thought. Her expression was as dead as ever…
After a while, Niku came back with the shovel and clay. She was holding the lump of clay with her small body, and it looked heavy. No, it probably really was heavy for a child.
Oh, I just now noticed she can enter and leave the master room.
"Good, well done. Take a break."
"Ah, uu."
I petted her head as praise. Also, since she'd gotten dirty carrying the clay with her bare hands, I used [Purify] on her.
She made a sound like "Hyafu!" Is having [Purify] cast on you ticklish or something?
Maybe I should have Rokuko try it on me sometime.
"Alright, now then… [Create Golem]!"
I poured magic power into the lump of clay. Creating circuits with magic power, I shaped it into a humanoid form.
Thanks to the scroll's effect, the image of what a golem should look like floated clearly in my head… though mine was quite a bit smaller than that, it should probably be fine. Maybe. Surely. Probably. It'll work out somehow. I got this, I got this.
Following the process in my head, I kneaded the clay around and poured in more magic power.
I reproduced the humanoid golem template, just scaled down.
After about ten minutes of pouring in magic power, a roughly 30-centimeter-tall clay golem (mini) was complete.
"Whoa, what's that… a golem?"
"Why are you saying it like a question?"
"Because normally, golems are bigger than adult humans! At this rate, I doubt you'd break even making even a hundred of them."
"Well, I'm a bit troubled since I don't know what 'normal' is… but whatever, I'll just make ten thousand then."
For now, it seems golems will move when given orders. I immediately decided to have it expand the cave. Should save on DP.
Displaying the map, I ordered it to keep digging deeper into the separate cave that served as the goblin room. The freshly-made clay golem (mini) walked out of the master room without even taking a shovel.
"Golems really have no flexibility. If it's going to dig through walls, it should at least take a shovel."
"No, no, what are you talking about? Right now, I'm genuinely moved by the golem's potential."
According to Rokuko's common sense, "golems can't do anything very complex," but that couldn't be further from the truth.
For example, if you give it the command "dig a hole," it actually digs a hole properly. I think that counts as doing something plenty complex. If you tried to do the same thing in modern Japan, you'd have to teach it the body movements for how to dig a hole before it could happen.
Same with locations. If you told something in modern Japan to "go there," you'd have to teach it how many steps to take, or even how to move its legs in the first place. Plus, if it fell down, it wouldn't get back up on its own, and if it hit a wall along the way, it would just keep walking into the wall.
But here, "go there and dig through the wall" is all it takes. Magic is amazing. I'm impressed.
However, using magic is pretty tiring… Alright, time to sleep.
Oh, right. Let me try using Niku as a hug pillow. I feel like that's why I got her in the first place. Come here… No, no, don't be scared, it's fine. I won't do anything lewd, okay? Yeah, I'm not going to make her wear knee-high socks or anything today either. That kind of thing should wait until we've built up more mutual trust…
* * *
Well, let me say one thing.
Humans are not suited to be hug pillows.
I tried making Niku into a hug pillow but… oh, of course I didn't undress her. Yeah, I purely just used her as a hug pillow.
It was fine at first. Her skin was silky smooth, and her hair had a nice smell to it.
But after a while, a problem arose.
She was hot. Human body heat is seriously hot. Yeah, this would only work in winter. I could totally see why people huddle together for warmth in snowy mountains. Also, I've heard that children have higher body temperatures to begin with… and while we're at it, dogs also have higher body temperatures than humans. So it makes sense that a dog-eared little girl would naturally run hot.
Also, when I thought her breathing was getting annoyingly loud, it turned out Niku was on the verge of suffocating under the covers.
Well, obviously. I was being an idiot. It's dangerous if her head isn't properly outside. I hurriedly pulled her head out from under the covers.
Then her face ended up right in front of mine. Her cheeks flushed red from lack of oxygen, her lips weakly parted… it was kind of sensual… No! I'm not a lolicon! I'm definitely not a lolicon!
Her breath was ticklish, so I turned her around to face the other way. It was absolutely not because my heart was pounding. It was because her breath was ticklish… But then her hair was tickling me. Urghh, what is this.
Since there was no other choice, I lowered her by about a head's length and hugged her again. This time, to prevent suffocation, I kept the covers down to just a towel blanket over our stomachs. That also fixed the heat problem.
I could finally get to sleep now that things felt just right.
But there was still one more problem. A pretty big one at that.
The problem with being used as a hug pillow is that you can't move. If you need to move, you have to push away the person hugging you, but as a slave, Niku couldn't do something like that. As a result, what happened was…
She wet herself…!
No, it's my fault though. When I woke up, I felt how soaked everything was.
Niku was sobbing and crying in my arms.
As soon as I woke up, I used [Purify] on myself, the bedding, and Niku, then immediately started patting her head to comfort her…
Yeah, that was my fault. From now on, push me away if you need to go to the bathroom.
As an apology, I'll let her eat as many deli-style bread items as she wants until she's full.
Here, here, there's even hamburgers! They're delicious! So please don't cry, I know I was wrong!
