In the Chaos God's Palm

Dungeon Attack Watching

I decided to watch the prince of the Daido and his group's dungeon conquest with Rokuko… monitor them I mean… nah, definitely just watching them. Watching for sure. We might need to intervene depending on the situation though.

"Kehma, do you want something to eat?"

"Oh yeah, let's have some popcorn. Some juice too."

As I leaned back on a large cushion, watching the monitor displaying the prince and his group, it felt like watching a relaxing movie or some sports game. Our dungeon's foolproof after all, a party with just slightly good skills would never be able to fully conquer it.

As we were munching on the popcorn and washing it down with orange juice, I figured that as long as it was safe for us, watching adventurers conquer a dungeon was pretty entertaining. It might even be interesting to have a dungeon that displays whatever's going on at the frontlines on a monitor. Not that I'd bother though.

"Hey, is there a melon bread-flavor?"

"… Not that I've seen at least."

"Never mind then, I'll have a bit of yours then."

"Sure thing."

Sharing my popcorn with Rokuko, we enjoyed watching the dungeon attack. It was quite peaceful.

The prince's dungeon conquest was going very smoothly.

In the Trial Room, the prince, having drawn the trial magic sword mentioned how he couldn't believe he got a magic sword so easily, but was informed by the [Shadow] adventurer that he wouldn't be able to take it out of the room. The prince reluctantly returned the sword to its pedestal.

This [Shadow] adventurer's got a sense of stability easily part of the semi-hero class. The other three, including the prince, seemed to be doing whatever they liked, and didn't seem to be gathering information.

… If it were just the prince and his group, they could be repelled even by the trial room, but this [Shadow] dude was providing some solid support. The prince and his group seemed too relaxed, as if they were at an amusement park. Do they really have what it takes to be ranked adventurers and enter the dungeon?

"You know, the prince's mage aide seems rather muscle-brained for a mage."

"Is there a correlation between magic and intelligence?"

"… Now that you mention it, there isn't."

In this world, intelligence wasn't really related to being a mage. Whether one used magic or used their head was a separate issue issue entirely.

Basically, magic served as projectiles similar to arrows. Compared to a warrior, the only difference was whether they attacked with physical strength or magical power. Magic was, after all, just one of many convenient tools.

The advantage was that it could be used at any time without taking up space instead of using physical strength.

While all this was happening, the prince and his group broke through the Labyrinth Area. They skipped the [Avarice Lodge] and headed toward the Spiral Staircase Area.

[Alright, the magic sword is ahead!]

[Information is scarce from here on. Be careful, Prince.]

[Ah, yes. Kenho, I'll leave the vanguard to you.]

[Such a big staircase… Be careful not to fall and get injured, Kenho.]

[Leave it to me! I'll show you how the future Knight Commander does it!]

[… Let's put a safety rope on you, Kenho-dono.]

The [Shadow] adventurer held back the prince and his group who were about to charge into the Spiral Staircase Area and tied a safety rope to the muscle-brained vanguard. Really, if it weren't for this [Shadow], the situation would have been settled already.

In fact, without the safety rope, this guy named Kenho would have been seriously injured or killed by being pushed against the wall or stepping onto the breaking-steps. This would have happened five or six times.

[I'll go ahead and mark the spots where the wall comes out and the steps break, so follow me using them as a reference.]

[Understood.]

[Indeed, professional adventurers are reliable.]

This [Shadow] guy… according to the information Dolche-san gathered through negotiation, he was hired from the dark side that served the Daido royal family and was pretending to be a hired adventurer to escort them.

(Note: I say negotiation, but it was to the point that they practically got on the ground and showed their bellies the moment they made eye contact with her. They revealed the information straight away as if to say they didn't want any unnecessary trouble.)

And so they safely conquered the spiral staircase area and the prince's group entered the Storage Area.

For now, it looked like their goal was a magic sword, so it'd be best to let them take it and leave already. It would be troublesome if they got injured and left with lingering resentment. It'd be a different story if they'd stayed in the suite though.

… Ah. By the way, Dolche-san stayed in the suite for about two nights and then, despite being a Wraith, moved to sleep in the church. As a result, the suite was currently vacant.

But a Wraith in a church, huh? I mean, it is Beddhism, so it makes some sense.

The underground was cool and damp, making it a comfortable place for lingering grudges to accumulate. Even though it's a church, there were still some grudges. There's a prison in the church's basement where criminals are locked up. Dolche-san said she could eat those grudges, so we're actually relying on her for that.

"So Kehma, what are you going to do?"

"… Let's avoid having them encounter the Haniwa Golem and get them to find a magic sword for now."

With that, they guided the group to the room with the magic sword while fending off the Golems.

On the second day of their dungeon attack, the prince and his group managed to obtain a Magic Sword Blade Golem!

[Prince, this appears to be a magic sword.]

[Wow! Good job, Harks, hand it over!]

[There should be more, so let's give this sword to Kenho. He helped us earlier when we were descending the stairs. Is that fine with you, Krush?]

[Yes, I don't mind. I'm a rear guard, after all.]

When the [Shadow] adventurer handed the magic sword hanging on the wall to the prince, Kenho received it. From their conversation, it looked like they wanted to secure a magic sword for each person. They might even get more than that.

"Kehma, how many are you going to give them?"

"For now… five, maybe."

Although they were called magic swords, they were just created by my [Create Golem] skill, so it didn't actually cost me anything. Still, distributing valuable magic swords would lower their value. Gotta keep an eye on balancing out their rarity and all.

But, well, giving about five to a group with their level of skill should be fine. After all, their combined daily DP value was comparable to Wataru's.

… Huh. I wonder how much Wataru's is now? I haven't been paying attention lately, so I'm not sure…

[Wow! This is the third one!]

[We've got Krush's share too! Here, take it!]

[Heh, I'll gratefully accept it.]

In the end, the prince and his group obtained the five magic swords I'd planted for them and headed back.

Now hopefully they just head on home. I don't know if these guys would be able to handle the boss…
