Holy Kingdom Infiltration

Creating the [Gluttony] Gimmick

Well, let's reconstruct the dungeon while Narikin and the others are heading to the Holy Kingdom.

Although there's no deadline or delivery date for this job, it's best to take it easy. It would be troublesome if the changes were made too abruptly and it was called a transitional period, so let's take our time.

Let's consider [Gluttony] first.

I remember when I asked Ichika for her opinion on the [Gluttony] gimmick in the employee break room.

"Hmm? Well, if it's [Gluttony] ya gotta have a trap that abuses someone's appetite, yah? Maybe prepare a delicious-looking and fragrant poison? If it's not lethal, a laxative or somethin' would work. That's setting aside whether such a convenient poison exists though."

"Delicious-looking poison, huh? Hmmm."

Well, if you ask if there is such a convenient poison, umm… how about amateur-cooked pufferfish sashimi? … No, that wouldn't work.

"Any other ideas?"

"Mmm… maybe a place where ya can insert money and get Kinue's dishes inside the dungeon?"

"Kinue-san's workload would be crazy."

Although Kinue-san could cook dishes in an instant by stopping time relative to herself, it would be tough if she had to work hard every time someone inserted money.

"Speakin' of which, aren't [Greed], [Lust], and [Sloth] all traps that'd hold people back? There're some cases where they accidentally die, but shouldn't [Gluttony] be about holdin' them in a room with delicious food?"

"Oh, that makes sense."

"I'll help out if ya need a taste test of delicious food, just make sure to call me!"

So, it'd be a trap that holds people back with a meal. I'd decided on the basic concept to implement other traps as well, focusing on delaying and buying time.

Now, as for the specific implementation…

"A trap that prepares a delicious meal from scratch when you sit down."

You can't leave your seat halfway through. It's a trap that holds you back, requiring you to stay seated until the slow-cooked dish is completed from scratch.

Of course, I planned to realize this in a way that didn't increase Kinue-san's workload. Naturally, the cook would be a Golem.

"So Kinue-san, I was thinking of having you show me how to cook just once. I hate to ask, but can you do it?"

"Of course, I don't mind, Master. I'll cook without using my [Chef] skill, then."

"Using the [Chef] skill would make the dish more delicious, but it wouldn't be observable."

"Before that though, what about the ingredients? Cooking requires essential ingredients."

"Replenishing them with DP each time would be too much of a hassle… I was thinking of using something like the Grass Spawner at the Mikan's place that spawns ingredients."

"… Does such a dreamlike thing truly exist?"

Indeed, having ingredients spawn sounded like a dream come true. Something that would allow you to live without working.

"Having said that, what comes out are Minotaurs and various plant-based monsters."

"Wait, so that means…"

"If we use monsters as ingredients, it's like we can call out ingredients by spawning them. We'll only take the necessary parts from the Minotaurs and plant-based monsters and dispose of the rest. The initial investment will be quite significant, though…"

Ethically speaking, it was a very questionable approach, but there was unfortunately no such thing as an Item Spawner. Spawned monsters apparently had no soul, so let's not worry too much about it. Eating meant taking life.

"What a luxury."

"Let's call it a luxury befitting of [Gluttony]."

… Well, in reality, I was thinking about whether we could create a system where we cultivated Slimes with leftover food without wasting anything. It would be nice to have the Slimes attack dine-and-dash culprits too. If Slime meat was edible, that could also be used as an ingredient. I didn't know if it's edible, but if it was acidic, it could maybe be used as a substitute for vinegar.

"As for ingredients… maybe Minotaurs, Killer Weeds, and Killer Tomatoes."

Killer Weeds and Killer Tomatoes were plants and tomatoes with fangs that could bite. Killer Weeds could be used as a leafy vegetable substitute with some of their parts even usable as a seasoning like pepper. That's what I heard from Ichika at least.

"… We could use some mushrooms as well."

"Mushrooms, huh? Indeed, having them in a simmered dish would likely elevate the flavor."

"If I may be greedy, having root vegetables would be even better. Potatoes, carrots, and onions as well…"

I wonder if there was a derivative of Killer Weeds and Killer Tomatoes… Oh, Shot Potatoes? A plant-based monster that used potatoes as bullets for fighting. Was it actually an edible potato?

As for carrots… Spear Carrots. Carrots that flew and pierced their captured enemies. What's going on? Is the shooting trend popular among plants?

As for onions… Ghost Onions? Oh, they weren't actually a ghost-type monster but were instead just a small fry monster that looked scary. I didn't know there were ones like that.

"It's surprising how many monsters can actually be used as ingredients when you look into it."

"There are indeed many delicious monster ingredients. Ah, wouldn't it be fine to use the spawn of the One-Horned Rabbit instead of Minotaurs and such?"

… Yeah, Kinue-san could say that because she hadn't seen Mikan's dungeon. I mean, they were much cheaper than Minotaurs and there would probably be fewer waste parts, so it's fine.

With that, I prepared a kitchen with a spawn function in the Master Rroom. I needed to have Kinue-san cook for me one time, after all. We were reusing a stove magic tool that had been in the treasure room for a while.

"With the press of a button, the trap's activated, and the One-Horned Rabbit turns into meat. If it's fresh, there's no need for blood draining."

"Shall we give the drained portion as a snack to Rei?"

That might make Rei happy. I don't know if Vampires were fine with rabbit blood, though.

Kinue-san pressed the button without any hesitation. The One-Horned Rabbit in the cage quickly turned into meat. Furthermore, Kinue-san skillfully skinned the fur… Oh, we'll need to have a Golem do this part too. The fur might be good to sell as treasure.

"As discussed earlier, let's make a stew with One-Horned Rabbit meat as the main ingredient. Rabbit meat pie would also be nice, but we'd need flour for the pie."

"Alright, I started the recording, so you can do it anytime."

"Yes, understood."

And so, Kinue-san began cooking.

Did cooking always take so much time and effort?

"It's quite a challenge, isn't it?"

"When using the [Chef] skill, I can't do anything other than cooking, so it's actually better to have no free time by putting more effort into it."

"Ah, I see. It seems like you're going through a lot of trouble…"

"No, no, being able to serve the dungeon and Master is our joy."

Kinue-san bowed her head slightly, still cooking.

Hmm, maybe I should give her some kind of reward?

"Is there anything you want?"

"If you could, I'd be grateful for a new apron handmade by Master."

"Are you sure that's enough?"

"That's exactly what I want."

Kinue-san smiled happily.

Thus, with Kinue-san's cooperation, the [Gluttony] gimmick was mostly completed.

Since I'd recorded the procedure, all that was left was to reproduce it with a Golem.

As for the fine adjustments of the seasoning and such, I'd ask Ichika to help as I promised.
