Stable Days?

Temporary Names and Room Expansion

The vampire was hanging her head in despair.

She was dejected and lamenting. Crying her eyes out, even. The cause: she'd checked her own strength and found it utterly pathetic. Frankly speaking, she'd even lose to a goblin.

"H-how could this… kuh, a vampire weaker than an ordinary human… weaker than a goblin…! This is humiliating!"

She sat on the floor, pounding her fists against it. But since her attack power was 0, she was really just patting it.

The silky gently comforted her… She has a real motherly quality to her.

"… And on top of that, Master is a human… He surely has no intention of letting me perform as a monster. He weakened me so he could use me for his amusement!"

I have no such intentions. That said, it's true I have no plans to use her as a monster.

Well, leaving her like this forever won't accomplish anything. I reluctantly invoked my command authority. She's a summoned monster, and as the Dungeon Master, I outrank her.

"How about you listen to what I have to say now? That's an order."

"""Yes."""

All three knelt before me.

I want you to work as inn employees… She'll probably slump over again if I say that. But I'm going to say it anyway.

"First of all, what I want to entrust to you isn't dungeon defense… It's working as inn employees."

"… An inn, you say?"

The vampire asked back nervously.

Well, anyone with a modicum of intelligence should have figured out I don't intend to use her for combat, given that I summoned her with zero attack power.

"Our dungeon operates an inn for humans. I wanted employees who could handle customer service… Oh, and consider yourselves executive candidates, so keep that in mind."

The vampire looked like she was mulling something over, the silky maintained her calm smile, and the apprentice witch had a vacant look like she didn't really follow what was going on… Is she going to be okay?

Just then, Ichika, whom I'd called earlier, came in.

"Goshujin-sama~, ya called~?"

"Oh, perfect timing. Come here, come here."

I called Ichika over in front of the three.

"… This is Ichika. She's my slave. She's your senpai, so follow her instructions."

"Y-yes?! … Eh? She's a human, right? Eh, and a slave on top of that…?"

"Understood. I look forward to working with you, Senpai."

"Ahh~, is that so~"

The vampire seems pretty rigid in her thinking. The silky looks like she'll be the hardest worker… And what's the deal with this apprentice witch? Seriously, what's the deal?

… All three were created with DP, yet there's quite a difference between them. Is it because of their different races?

"Nice to meet ya, all three of ya… So, what're your names?"

"… I'm a vampire. No Name."

"I'm a silky. I am No Name."

"I'm an apprentice witch~. No Name~"

"… All of ya are monsters? I thought for sure ya'd hired some adventurers."

"Mm, come to think of it, I should give you names."

When I said that, all three monster girls looked my way. The vampire, in particular, stared at me with a surprised expression.

"You're going to make us Named?!"

Named. So that's a thing, huh.

Is having a name special or something? I asked Rokuko about it.

"Hm? Well yeah, it feels special. Having a name means you're valued that much more by your Master, and Named monsters often go above and beyond… Gobsuke was really active for us too, right?"

Gobsuke counted as a Named monster, huh… He sure did do a lot for us.

"Then I'll think about it. For now, you're in a training period. If you pass it successfully, I'll give you proper names… Until then, as temporary names… the vampire is Alpha. The silky is Beta. The apprentice witch is Gamma. Got it, you three?"

"""Yes!"""

"Those names are pretty lazy. Well, I guess it's easier to call them than No Name."

I don't know how they were translated for Rokuko, but I actually put thought into this. If we get more of the same type later, I plan to use these as squad names.

I used DP to produce our inn [Dancing Doll's Pavilion]'s uniform, a [Maid Outfit], and handed one to each of them… I included one for the silky as well, just in case. I eyeballed the sizes.

"Alright then, Ichika. First, teach them how to handle reception."

"Roger that~. Okay then, let's start with how to handle money~"

Ichika led the three monster girls away.

Once they learn reception, Ichika can provide backup in the dining hall… Maybe I should have Ichika learn [Storage] too. Considering our remaining DP, it's probably time to convert our gold coins into DP.

For now, I'll leave the newbie training to Ichika. She's properly memorized her multiplication tables and everything, so she should be able to teach them well enough… Alright, I'll give those three their names once they can handle reception on their own. I need to think of good ones by then.

"Come to think of it, Kehma. Are those three going to sleep in the inn too? Or inside the dungeon?"

"… I forgot about that. Good catch, Rokuko, as expected of my partner. Good girl, good girl."

"H-hey, I'm not going to be happy just because you pat my head like Niku would. I'm not a child, you know!"

What's this blonde loli saying? Also, the corners of your mouth are curling up, so yes you are.

Now then, employee rooms, huh… Let's handle it with an expansion.

I need to get it ready while Ichika is doing the newbie training.

* * *

"This is where your room will be."

I had brought Rokuko and the three newbies to the outside of the inn. Looking from the entrance, it was on the side facing the dungeon.

"You're making them sleep outside? Their bodies would probably be fine since they're monsters, but… And what's with that mask?"

"No, making employees sleep outside would be a bit much. So I'm going to build rooms here."

This Narikin mask is for hiding my identity during construction. There's a Guild branch office right across from the inn, so it's a precaution in case anyone happens to see… So please don't look at me with such pitying eyes, Rokuko.

"You're going to use DP for our sake? Thank you very much."

"Huh? No way, that'd be a waste. I used a ton of DP summoning you three, so of course I'm going to be economical."

"Huh?"

I began working in front of Rokuko and the three monster girls.

First, I made a passage connecting to the inn. Using [Create Golem] to manipulate wooden materials, I opened up what had been a plain wall and reworked it into a hallway. Quick and easy.

Next was the room itself… I had originally planned a one-night castle approach where I'd pre-build the walls and roof, then assemble them on-site. But then I realized that if I just built the hallway and rooms entirely inside the dungeon, I could simply use the dungeon's function to move them and connect them to the inn.

In other words, the modular approach. Like a space station.

So I'd made the rooms inside the dungeon while the three girls were receiving their newbie training from Ichika. The interior? Individual rooms of about two tatami mats each, with one bed and one dresser. Of course, all [Create Golem]-made. Man, so convenient.

I [Installed] the room modules using the dungeon's function, then used [Create Golem] to manipulate the materials and bond them together. Even though it was an addition, I gave it a seamless look as though it had been there from the start… Done.

Total work time: about three minutes. I think this is probably the fastest approach out there.

"… Alright, perfect."

… I wore the mask in case someone saw me, but maybe it was pointless.

With this modular method, I could probably expand the inn's rooms on the fly without stopping operations.

"Kehma really is as handy as ever~… So, what's with that mask?"

"What's handy is [Create Golem]."

That said, it was originally a magic skill that could only create clay golems, but I've been freely modifying it beyond recognition thanks to the automatic translation ability I got from Kami-sama and the mental imagery I cultivated back in Japan. So saying I'm the handy one isn't exactly wrong either.

"Also, right now I'm Narikin. When I have this mask on, that's who I am…"

"… Ah, yeah. Got it."

Ah, stop. Please don't look at me like I'm a hopeless child.
