The Age of Writing

Afterword

Thank you for picking up this book. Ishinomiya Kanto here.

Thanks to everyone's support, I was able to publish the third volume. I am truly grateful.

In reality, about nine months have passed since the publication of the first volume, but in the story, over nine hundred years have gone by. The era has shifted from the Stone Age to the Ancient era.

This "Ancient" Era is quite tricky, as the progress of civilization varies greatly depending on the region and time period.

Particularly, Ancient Egypt and Ancient Rome are a bit peculiar.

In Ancient Rome, there were elevators. Of course, they weren't electric but operated by human power. They had handles on all four sides of a thick pillar, which four people would turn round and round. It's that thing you often see in cartoons where slaves are made to work on something seemingly pointless. That was actually a scene of them operating an elevator.

As for Ancient Egypt, it is said that vending machines existed. These were completely automated, without human intervention, using the weight of coins to sell holy water.

So, in the world of 'The Magus of Genesis', starting from this era, the history of Earth's civilization gradually begins to diverge. There are things that are easy with science but difficult with magic, and things that are difficult with science but can be achieved with magic.

Where will Mentor, who knows of both paths, end up—

I hope you will look forward to finding out, which would make me extremely happy.

I would like to express my gratitude. To my editor, who I have greatly inconvenienced again this time. I am truly sorry for the late manuscript. To Falmaro-sensei, who tackled a large number of character designs despite it being the third volume. I am so grateful that I cannot lie with my feet towards you. To my wife who kindly sent me off to write close to the deadline, and to my daughter who complained, "Papa loves his work huh?" I'm sorry. To all the bookstores, distributors, wholesalers, related parties, and readers who have read this book, I express my deepest gratitude.
