Boss 'Huge Slime' Battle! (2)

With support from her regular Karonites, Karona's activity-time kept stretching on.

That said, skipping dinner still meant an empty stomach, and if this pace kept up much longer, she'd need at least one trip to the restroom… but a quick log-out was tricky given this was a multi dungeon.

"… In multi dungeons like this, how does one handle stepping away for the restroom?"

"Usually you have your teammates cover for you while you're away. During that time your body falls completely unconscious, basically collapsed on the spot."

"I see. Given that the three of us are currently managing to block the Huge Slime's attacks, if we went one at a time, restroom breaks should be doable?"

"Honestly, it'd be pretty rough. Brace for at least a little damage."

A multi dungeon, especially mid-boss-fight, was apparently a terrible time to step away.

If this had been a solo dungeon, she could have paused entirely, but…

"Leaving your body behind is the same spec as a real dungeon. Though in an actual real one, you can't even log out."

"Eh, by what principle does that work? … The stream still goes through, doesn't it?"

"Dunno. That's Debris-tech talk, ask a technologist… Something about 'the soul' being involved? Supposedly?"

So said Yamato vaguely, while sending another slime flying for a home run. Karona tilted her head with an "uuumm".

In truth, Yamato had no clear idea why logging out became impossible, or what would happen if someone forced their VR headset off. And he had no plans to run that kind of experiment.

"There are rumors your soul gets carted off into the dungeon and you end up a burnout, but apparently the headsets have safety mechanisms, so it probably doesn't come to anything major."

"Hmm, so that's how it is."

If so, she could relax. Karona let out a relieved breath.

Still, while she had leeway to spare, it'd be wise to make that restroom trip. If the boss's pattern shifted later and she ran out of breathing room, having to go then would be miserable.

"Well then, I shall take a short leave to pick some flowers. Would you kindly hold the line in the meantime?"

"Sure, got it."

With that, Karona began the log-out motion—

But, right before she could.

"Warning! Warning! A Dungeon Awakening has been confirmed! Immediately abort log-out! Warning! Warning! A Dungeon Awakening has been confirmed!"

Red warning text and a mechanical voice flashed up all around Karona and the Dungeon Braver members.
