Dungeon Entry

Before Karona could faint, it was time to head to the dungeon.

The dungeon chosen for Karona's first outing as a corporate affiliate was a standard one — in fact, on the Dungeon Master side, the goblin-and-cavern combo sits at the very top of the generation samples, which is why its variants are so numerous.

At the dungeon entrance, Akari turned back and called out to everyone.

"Now then! Today we'll be clearing this goblin dungeon! Karona-chan, do you know what to watch out for in a goblin dungeon?"

"Fweh!? Uh-uhm, g-goblins show up, maybe?"

Put on the spot by her senpai, Karona blurted out the first answer that popped into her head.

Pfft, went Yuki, letting slip a small, involuntary laugh.

"Well, it's a goblin dungeon, so of course goblins show up… … Making me laugh right off the bat. This newcomer is too promising. Right, Sora-kun?"

"Indeed. For the record, the correct answer has two points: goblins aren't necessarily weak, so don't underestimate them, and — watch out for name-fraud."

[@tam323]: "ooh, true"

[Joabou]: "aah. there's all kinds of goblins, y'know. hobgoblins are goblins too"

"Ah, I see… … being a major type does mean there's a wide range of variations."

"Also, there's the simple case of the name just being the default with a number slapped on, which, weirdly enough, is a trap in its own right. Dungeon description text goes through strict checks before it gets made public, so you can't fudge that. But you can set it to private. Those spots are especially suspicious, so be careful!"

"Understood, Akari-senpai!"

Karona gave Akari a sharp salute.

"By the way, this one had its description set to private!"

"Then what was that 'be careful' for!?"

"Give it up, Karona-san. Akari pulls stuff like this."

Pomu, went Yuki, patting Karona's shoulder in encouragement.

"Come on, a goblin dungeon where the enemies are totally predictable isn't gonna look good on stream, you know… …? We're entertainers too, Yuki-chan!"

"I won't deny that, but… … today's goal is interacting with the newcomer, so go easy."

"Well, given the difficulty relative to the prize… … even though it's called a goblin dungeon, you'd best assume orcs showing up as regular monsters is well within the realm of possibility, Karona."

"Y-yes! You're right, Sora-senpai!"

The prize was something that couldn't be fudged any more than the description allowed, nor could it be hidden.

In a sense, it served as an absolute index of the dungeon itself.

"All right, let's go! I'm vanguard as usual!"

"Karona-san, you're a skirmisher, move as you please."

"Yes～!"

"… … If you hold back too much, you might end up finishing without any highlights, you know?"

Right away, Karona and the others descended into the dungeon's cavern.
