Facility Mapping
For now, let's investigate whether there are any rooms where Annette-chan's little sister might be held… Man, there was a child's corpse too. This research facility is completely out.
Is it okay if I kill everyone here? Yeah. It's fine.
And who the hell decided to feed her humans? I'm definitely killing you and making you my food… I hope you're easy to eat. Guess I'll put up with eating an old man this time… yeah.
I want to cleanly dispose of everyone at this research facility. Make it so they can't continue their research. I should do that.
"Miitei-chan, let's do our best to eat!"
"… … Otay."
…!?
Did she just respond!? Did Miitei-chan just respond!?
Just then, a menu window opened.
[Additional Mission! Eat Humans: 2/25]
… Whoa whoa whoa, so that kind of thing got added.
This means eating humans is required to raise Miitei-chan. Well then, can't be helped. The game's telling me to do it.
The count's at two though. Maybe the baldy got counted too? … Does that mean I don't have to eat them whole—just biting off a part works? I don't want to eat an evil person's head and get some bad influence from it.
Well, I'll gradually eat them and watch when the count increases to figure it out.
First, let me properly grasp the layout of this research facility, explore it, eat what I can eat, and power up. I'll be careful not to leave too much of a mess and get discovered.
Oh, and I need to bring Annette-chan some food. Even if there is food, it might be human again.
"First I want to find her little sister, but… hmm. She's not in this room either…"
From the ceiling space, I scratched open holes and peeked into each room.
A room with magical beasts floating in giant capsule-like pods.
A laboratory full of documents and chemicals.
A room with a magic circle and an altar.
A room filled with monster materials.
In the food storage I'd eaten through the other day, walls being repaired and empty shelves stood out.
The technology seemed quite advanced, yet medieval in places, with a distinctly ominous atmosphere of forbidden alchemical and magical research.
I hit a dead end. It seemed like she wasn't in any of the rooms on this floor—probably basement floor two, based on the stairs I found and the markings there.
There were floors below this one, and of course floors above too. I should explore the upper floors first and secure an escape route.
… There were only two staircases, and they were on opposite sides of the floor—one going up, one going down. There were also hatches and shutters. The structure was designed so you couldn't reach lower floors without properly passing through each floor.
Hmm, this kind of setup where you can't just take the stairs straight through feels very game-like. In a real building, you'd be able to go to upper floors using just the stairs.
Oh. Maybe it's designed to make isolation easy if something happens?
Anyway, unlike Miitei-chan, Annette-chan can't move through walls, so with a structure like this, escaping would be tough.
We'd need to time it right, wipe them all out at once, and then escape at leisure… I think. So for now, this is the preparation phase. At minimum, I want to make a map… munch munch. A passing rat. Gross.
Let's explore basement floor one. Same method as the previous floor. Circle around through the ceiling space, make peepholes, and check each room… Besides the interrogation room where I questioned the baldy, basement floor one had security facilities. Including solitary cells. Empty for now.
Hmm? Is this a Guard Golem? It'll probably attack if we try to escape. I want to destroy it right before we make our break… Also, the servant quarters are on basement floor one.
Hmm, I feel like I don't need to eat the servants who are just hired help rather than researchers… but then again. Hmm. Maybe I'll go with not actively attacking them? Only if I can complete the mission with just researchers though… well, I'll put that on hold for now. No beastkin child resembling Annette-chan's little sister here.
And finally, the first floor. I emerged above ground… Ground level! Sunlight!
My transparent Slime body sparkled in the sun.
"Sunlight…? Huh."
"… … Nn."
Oh, another response from Miitei-chan. Nice.
… Since I'm here, maybe I'll try climbing up onto the roof.
Outside, I found a big three-story red brick building. It was surrounded by tall gray walls with limited entry points. I should properly plan the escape route around here too.
If it were just us, it'd be one thing, but Annette-chan and her sister probably can't cling to walls.
I climbed up onto the roof while keeping an eye out for onlookers… Yeah. The bronze roof was painfully hot and was literally burning me, so I couldn't fully climb up. My moisture was evaporating.
Yeah, maybe I should get Heat Resistance. I'd want to acquire it somehow to be more active as a monster too.
