Condemnation Arc ~ Now, At Last, It's Comeuppance Time! ~
Preparations for Serves-You-Right Are Basically Perfect, Desu wa!
And so, nearly a year had passed since enrollment.
One year: the entire game period in the VR game Face☆Meet.
Today, a party to celebrate the graduation of the third-years was being held at the academy, and the student council members were to attend.
The game's finale. The climax scene. Once today was over, it would be the ending whether we laughed or cried.
As for why their own graduation, in their third year, wasn't the climax, the likely answer was simple: the budget ran out after one year.
Face☆Meet quality, as always. Not that she minded.
In the game, the student council president's fiancée, Koleha, wasn't barred from attending. But only if invited by the president.
In the game, Koleha went without being invited, and was condemned.
"But I'm a student council member now, so I have legitimate grounds to attend even without being called by His Highness Harks! Ooh-ho-ho-ho-ho!"
"You look absolutely gorgeous, Ojou-sama!!"
Helping with the dress was Summer, or rather, since she was also attending the party with makeup on, she was Hiiro.
"Even so, this dress… Did I buy something like this?"
"Ah, that was a gift from His Highness Harks, Ojou-sama… Well, it's not just because you're his fiancée. You're also a student council member, right?"
"Is that so!? Then if I were only a student council member or only his fiancée, he wouldn't have sent it, but since I'm both, he had no choice. That's what this means!"
"That may be so!"
"Brilliant deduction!!"
And so it was decided.
A dress with purple as the base, accented with gold, the color of Harks' hair.
Depending on how you looked at it, it seemed like Harks was submitting to Koleha, which she liked. Especially the hem of the skirt; it was like Harks groveling at her feet.
"What about your dress, Hiiro?"
"Ah, I bought this with my salary from Ojou-sama. Out of pocket."
Hiiro, the lady's maid of Koleha, the fiancée of the First Prince and a marquis's daughter.
She received special allowances and, in truth, was quite highly paid.
"… His Highness didn't gift you one?"
"No, he didn't. He offered to arrange one, but I refused."
"… How does that work for a Heroine??"
"He said, 'What a modest heart!' so I think it turned out fine."
I see. So refusing was the correct answer for a Heroine.
… In the game, that choice hadn't existed, but that was likely because the original Heroine was a penniless commoner.
As an aside, on Harks' route he sent a pink dress with gold accents.
The dress Hiiro wore now was pink with purple accents.
That was Kurushu-route coloring, Koleha remembered.
"Hiiro… No, let me call you Summer for this. Summer, are the props ready?"
"Yes. The correspondence letters, the contract, the recording magitech, proof of the cosmetics advertisements we're selling… and the hair clippers too. I've prepared everything in the magic pochette. Please confirm."
"Mm-hmm. Excellent… Today, heh-heh, I'll do it…! Heh-heh-heh!"
Koleha clenched her fist.
As an aside, regarding the correspondence, Hiiro was unfamiliar with noble letter etiquette and had given up early, so Koleha drafted the contents while Hiiro copied them out.
The letters from Harks were filled with sweet words. "This is definitely proof of infidelity," Koleha had smirked.
Since Harks didn't realize Koleha had written the lines… his replies were splendid, just as she'd hoped: "I've fallen for you all the more," "I suggested the policies you spoke of to my father," "I can't say this aloud, but… I like you, I love you," "You have the mind befitting a queen," "You are my goddess," "Stand at my side," and so on. Endless praise.
Had she been the recipient, she would have blushed in spite of herself.
Regrettably, the letters were addressed to Hiiro. Well, not literally; there was no addressee name written anywhere. That was likely a small precaution to prevent exposure.
A carriage arrived in front of the girls' dorm.
In the game, the capture target with the highest affection would escort you.
And as expected, the one who stepped out of the carriage was Harks Daido.
Harks headed straight for Hiiro, then veered past her and spoke to Koleha instead. Huh?
"Koleha. You're especially beautiful today. The dress suits you."
"My, thank you, Your Highness Harks. And you, why the light purple?"
"Hm? Ah. The handkerchief in my breast pocket?"
The pocket square should have been the Heroine's color, pink, but it wasn't.
It was as if he wanted to wear Koleha's color.
"Because I'm escorting you. See? It's a cute color, just like you."
"… Eh? Seriously? W-wait. Then who is escorting Hiiro?"
"For now, I asked Kurushu. See?"
From the carriage behind, Kurushu Nyarlathotep appeared.
"Lady Hiiro. Your hand, please."
"Yes."
Hiiro left Koleha and quickly got into Kurushu's carriage.
… Come to think of it, Hiiro was wearing a Kurushu-colored dress.
So the leftover prince got the leftover Heroine? Well, that was that.
"… Ah. Right, you have to escort me, don't you?"
"That's what I said. Come on, let's go, Koleha."
Harks would surely have preferred to escort Hiiro, but as royalty he couldn't leave his fiancée, an official attendee, unaccompanied.
Satisfied, Koleha graciously accepted his very polite escort and boarded the carriage.
