The Medicinal Herb Sales Contract with Roborovski
Side Story
Koleha and Roborovski drew up a contract regarding the sale of medicinal herbs.
Of course, Marquis Yarkot Nyarlathotep was present as well, and they carefully hammered out the terms.
"Now then, Lady Koleha. Regarding this Kias, how about this price point for sale?"
"Hmm."
What was written there was about half the current price of medicinal herbs.
Given its efficacy, it could be said to be a reasonable price. However, Koleha shook her head.
"Roborovski-sensei. I appreciate the effort, but I cannot agree to this price."
"Hmm? You would prefer a bit more profit after all?"
"No."
With a smile, Koleha erased the last digit of the calculated price.
"What…!? Lady Koleha, are you serious!?"
"I want this Kias to spread far and wide. It's enough if the profits cover the level of my pocket money, desu wa."
"… O-Ojou-sama! How… how…!"
Roborovski trembled at her magnanimity, tears welling at the corners of his eyes.
Yes. She wanted money — she certainly did.
But even more than that, Koleha wanted the expression of those drinking Kias to spread, grimacing at its bitterness!
Moreover—
(Ufufu, Roborovski-sensei. It looked like a huge profit was in sight, but suddenly it's become a thin margin — how pitiful for you! You're crying with frustration, aren't you! Well, I'm caught up in it too, but since the starting investment was practically free, it's of no concern to me!)
Seeing Roborovski's expression, Koleha smiled in satisfaction.
Seeing that gentle smile of Koleha's, Roborovski was even more moved, thinking she might be a saint, and blushed, ashamed of his own attempt to seek profit.
"Understood. In that case, this old man will accept no profit at all! At the very least, I shall offer my share to you, Ojou-sama."
"Oh? Is that so? … It would be boorish to refuse. I shall accept it gratefully."
(Heh, your face is bright red! You've gotten reckless, haven't you!)
Koleha nodded with a smug look.
And if she was getting money, that was, of course, welcome.
Just then — right as they were about to shake hands to seal the deal — Yarkot smoothly reached out his hand and stopped them.
"What is it, Father?"
"Marquis. Please do not get in the way!"
"Hmm, I think the spirit you both show is admirable… but pricing it at one-twentieth of the existing medicinal herb is obviously in the red. Shall we do the math a bit more carefully?"
Oh. It seemed deleting a digit had been going too far.
"… Being in the red would be a problem, desu wa."
"Indeed. To continue this permanently, it would be unhealthy if there were no profits."
Watching the two nod in agreement, Yarkot shrugged his shoulders with an exasperated air.
"Yes. And, Roborovski-sensei, not taking any profit would also mean abandoning responsibility. So I would like you to accept at least some share."
"Mm, if you put it that way, it can't be helped."
Thus, after Yarkot's adjustments, the sales contract for Kias was finalized.
In the end, the price settled lower than the initial figure, and at an amount that properly provided profit to all three parties.
As expected, the active marquis was quite the operator.
As a later note, at Koleha's request to see where the medicinal herbs she made were to be used, a visit to a clinic was arranged.
The test subjects grimaced at the bitterness of Kias, while Koleha, satisfied to see the herb she created working to full effect, wore a benevolent expression. Word spread: "the marquis's daughter might be a saint?"
