I Bet This Could Sell

A toy gun, born from a chance turn of events.

Figuring this could actually sell, I had the Five Elders make me a Magic Tool to mass-produce them.

"It's a request from Kari-chan, so I went all out♪"

"The idea of a Magic Tool that takes in materials and spits out finished products, now that never crossed my mind."

"With dwarves, everybody makes things one piece at a time, after all."

"The only ones who 'make something that makes things' are kids, basically."

"Hm? Then doesn't that make this practically a child between Kari-chan and the rest of us? Should I put a little more love into it?"

And so, I gathered up the raw materials, wood and iron ore, from some nearby mountain and dropped them into the input chute! IN!

I poured mana into the designated spot, and production began! It chewed through the materials and processed them away…

And one toy gun was complete! So easy!! I can crank out ten an hour!!

… Though if you ask whether they'll sell that fast, well, that's another matter!

"While we were at it, I made a Magic Tool that mass-produces screws."

"And as a bonus, one that produces ink for Magic Tools too."

"I even made one that can produce those battery things Kari-chan taught us about."

"We use a ton of those. The handmade ones come out better, but still."

"There are times you want to save time, you know. They're good for prototypes and such. Actually, for consumables, an auto-production Magic Tool seems like the way to go, hm?"

Hm? I get the feeling some kind of revolution is happening behind me, but, well, I didn't see it. I saw nothing. The Five Elders did it all on their own, yes sir.

"Anyway, Dea-kun, do you have any connections to a decent merchant?"

"Hee. You're going to sell toy guns? It's true that conventional toy guns don't actually fire anything, so just like the Gun Club members said, it really is groundbreaking."

A kid waving around a crude little gun-shaped model going "Bang! Bang!" versus one where pellets actually fly out? No contest which is more fun.

"The mass-production setup's all ready, so if I feel like it I can make ten in an hour. Material costs are nothing since I gathered them myself. The more I sell, the more it's pure profit!"

Oh, and I paid the Five Elders' technical fee with my body, too. So it's practically free.

"… Then you can sell them as much as you like, can't you?"

"I wanted to talk it over, pricing included."

"Wouldn't it be better to launch sales from Tessin?"

"? Why?"

"If they're made with a Magic Tool the Five Elders built, you could call them Tessin-made products, couldn't you?"

Now that he mentioned it, maybe so.

… Hmm.

"Then let's sell them in Tessin too. One word to Mie-chan and it's settled, a simultaneous release!"

"… As for production, well, if you can make ten an hour, you can make enough to go around pretty quickly."

"I could always just duplicate it. The Magic Tool that makes them, I mean."

With two, that's twenty an hour; with ten, a hundred.

"And what's more, if I make a Magic Tool that makes the Magic Tools that make them…!"

Even if it only made one an hour, that's an extra ten guns per hour added every hour.

In just a day, production speed climbs by 240 guns per hour…!

"And if I make a Magic Tool that makes the Magic Tools that make the Magic Tools!?"

Production speed would grow exponentially… Fufufu!

The billionaire life… has begun!!

"You'd have unsold stock if you went that far, you know. If you run short while selling, you can just make more then."

"Whoops, good point. Besides, I'd like to do version upgrades and minor model changes on the gun itself down the line, expand the variations."

When I think about it like that, the current setup is plenty. For now, anyway. Better to meet demand as the requests come in.

"Well then, for selling within this country, I'll introduce you to a merchant I know… Ah, no, why not have Flaretart introduce you instead? She seems to be on close terms with you, Onee-san."

"Oh, there's that option too, huh."

I did just give Fletta-chan a Magic Tool as a present the other day. That might make it easier to get the conversation through.

"I'll head over to hang out and bring some along right away!"

"… … … … Yes, take care, Onee-san."

Hm? Did he start to say something and stop? Well, whatever. Off I go~!

Ah. While I'm at it, I'll bring a little souvenir along too!
