Multi Dungeon: 'Slime Falls' (3)

After that, for a while, Yamato's crew practiced the first form, "Golf."

"A little more to the right. You're a bit too close. Try backing up about 10 centimeters."

"Hm, really?… Oh! It flew nicely!"

Taking Karona's advice, Yamato stepped back and swung, and the slime arced cleanly through the air like a ball. He'd successfully dialed back his power, too.

"Yes. Very good, Yamato-san. The size of the slime, and your position when you swing: those are what matter."

"Karona-jou, check out mine too. I'm hitting way farther now!"

"Ah, look at me too, not just Yuuta, Karona-chan!"

"Yes, yes, in order, please～"

As the Dungeon Braver members smoothly picked up Slime Golf, Karona got so happy she started lightly skipping in place.

Per the pre-collab contract, her reward was going to be paid as a tuition fee regardless of whether they actually picked up the skill. But if her teaching had flopped and Yamato's group had walked away with nothing, the small-hearted Karona would have felt terrible about it.

There was a real chance she'd have opened a second, free-of-charge Golf class.

"I think it's about time for the next form: Bat."

"Bat? So, baseball. I've got confidence in that one. Right, Yuuta?"

"Yamato and I, we were in the baseball club back in the day."

"Oh my. Is that so?"

Then perhaps I should have started with the bat? Karona thought as she hoisted up a slime. It hung bunyooon in her hand, going all limp. Completely dead weight. Honestly, a bit cat-like.

"Still, the slimes around here are awfully placid, aren't they? I'm jostling this one all over, and it won't even try to attack…"

"Well, it's a dungeon Mikoto picked out for us. Figures."

Karona poked the slime. Poke poke. At that, the slack body perked up and firmed into a round shape.

"Just like so, if you poke at the core, it hardens a little. And then, with that, like so!!"

She tossed the slightly-firmed slime straight up and kakiiin!!, smacked it. The slime went sailing.

"With this one too, if you ease up on the power, the slime just sails off. Same as with Golf."

"Hmm. This might actually be easier for me."

"It's the same idea as fielding practice. If that's the case, I think I can handle it."

"Hey, isn't there a badminton form? Badminton. I used to be in the badminton club."

Sakura piped up beside Yamato and Yuuta, who were busy hoisting and poking their own slimes.

"There are tennis forms and such, but I think they'd work for badminton too. I'll poke a slime to harden it and toss it to you sidearm, so go ahead and smash it."

"Got it, I'll give it a try! Ah, don't stand in front of me, I'll hit it back at you."

"Oh. Then we'll get some fielding practice in while you're at it, Sakura. Yuuta, toss me one."

"Sure thing. Might get a little squelchy."

Karona stayed glued to Sakura's side for her practice. Bachun! The core got smashed hard into the ground.

Meanwhile, Yamato and Yuuta were cleanly punching through slime cores, knocking out home runs.

"… Oh! I full-swung it without meaning to, but at this point it's straight-up combat-ready!"

"Yeah. With this much power, I bet we can put out some real damage, huh?"

Yamato and Yuuta were looking pretty pleased with themselves. Karona glanced over and looked satisfied too.

"Yes, yes. Glad to see the bare minimum of usefulness, at the very least… Sakura-san, a little more forward, in the flying-forward sort of way. Smashing it into the ground won't get you any distance."

"Hnnngh! In badminton, you're hammering it down onto the opponent's court, so… I'll do my best!"

And so the lecture time passed by, and, safely, the members of Dungeon Braver had all learned how to hit a slime.
